SAL is a vocalist, songwriter, and performer. Hailing out of Newbridge, County Kildare and now based in Cork City. Her debut single ‘Belle’ won her acclaim and recognition in 2017. In 2018, SAL followed this by, playing to over two thousand people at the Doolin Folk Festival and extensively touring her Debut EP ‘Glitter Skies’, SAL thrilled audiences throughout the country in venues such as Whelan’s, Coughlan’s and Kenny’s, each to a full house audience.

Since the release of her stunning debut EP, Glitter Skies, SAL has gone from being one of Irish folk music’s hidden gems, to its ‘New Artist of the Year’ at the 2017 Irish Folk Awards.

Such recognition is unsurprising to anyone lucky enough to have followed SAL's career from the beginning. Extensive touring in Germany and Switzerland attracted growing audiences with each visit, and her veritable songwriting and storytelling talents have been lauded by fellow homegrown artists including Christy Moore. In April 2020 SAL returned to Germany for a three week tour. SAL has shared the stage with some of Ireland's most commended artists, Mick Flannery, Luka Bloom, The Stunning, Wyvern Lingo, Jack L and Wally Page.

SAL is a first-class honours graduate of CIT Cork School of Music with a MA in Popular Music (Vocals). In October 2019 SAL was awarded a scholarship with CIT Faculty of Business of Humanities with Cork School of Music to undergo a Masters in Vocal Performance, to further grow creatively and technically as a vocalist, vocal coach, and songwriter.

In November 2019, SAL released her Debut Album ‘Breathe’ and then underwent a national tour selling out some of Ireland’s most award-winning venues. The album was recorded in Monique studios Cork and produced by Christian Best. Her latest single, titled 'The Weight’ gained national and international airplay, getting to Number 3 on the RTE Radio 1 Playlist.

“She continues to progress through hard work, determination and, most importantly… pure talent and creative spirit” - Christy Moore.

‘A very striking performer with a folk voice that is high, carrying, soft and beautiful; but also eerie…’ - John Spillane

Press Coverage

Sara (SAL) has had good press coverage around Ireland following her album launch in 2019, first by the The Bray People where they shared this review: "Armed with her lyrical blend of emotional honesty, self-awareness and societal reflection, Sara is driven by a perceptive and rebellious spirit. Sara's soft and smooth but soulful vocal styling, supported by beautifully crafted melodies, invites the listener to stay tuned for the electrifying sound and next insightful rhyme.

This was followed by an interview  with the Cork Independent in November 2019, "What is your greatest life or career achievement to-date?

I think recording my debut album. I absolutely adored the whole process of it - it was the most creative, colourful, challenging and beautiful experience. It would either be that or performing at the Doolin Folk Festival in front of 2,000 people, which was fairly deadly. It was in the middle of summer and it was such a gorgeous listening audience. It was a dream come true!"
